Dear Keeper of the hearth and fellow introvert/book lover,

I’ve mentioned a couple of times the movies that have influenced my writing, but today, I thought I’d share a couple of classic medieval tales/stories that had their own impact on my writing and my debut YA medieval Christian fantasy series, In the Shadow of Emerald Fire✨

Tristan and Iseult was a tale I read early on in my life, and The Scottish Chiefs I picked up in my high school/college years. This latter books was one that struck a chord in my heart even more than the poetic beauty of Tristan and Iseult.

I started rereading The Scottish Chiefs but then got busy and didn’t get a chance to return to it. What I did read struck me as even more beautiful than I remembered it. I highly recommend both of these stories, per your interest and approval.

I’m curious…have you heard of either of these books? Or the authors who penned them? Both books are so old by today’s standards, but have you ever read them? If so, what’s your take on them, and what would you tell a reader who may be interested in reading these books for themselves? 📚

My books “feel” is the medieval mood and tone of Braveheart, the ethereal quality of the Lord of the Rings, and the feistiness of Brave. It also encompasses the medieval clean romance of The Scottish Chiefs by Jane Porter. I love this book! Such a chilvarous and swoon-worthy read. If you’ve never read it yourself, you should! But I’ll warn you, it’s not easy to read, but it’s definitely worth your time to digest it. (I’m a huge Wallace fan; hence, my frequent use of the Braveheart soundtrack on my posts)✨

I hope you enjoy the “vibes” of my book series. It’s a great book to settle in on the couch with, next to a slow-burning fire on your winter break ❄️

Great for 12 and up, teen/YA readers, the homeschool community, and even adults.

Dear Keeper of the hearth and fellow introvert/book lover,

I thought I’d give a little more insight into some of my favorite movies and what inspirations I drew from each one (although Merida wasn’t a character when I first wrote Finockt’s story. I like to think my character inspired Merida’s,even though it never did and that’s totally a joke 😂).

Of note: I was surprised to see Amazon running a special price promotion on Book 1 of my YA medieval Christian fantasy series, In the Shadow of Emerald Fire, The Lost King’s Daughter. 👩🏻‍🦰 It’s a seriously good deal! Grab it while you can ✨

Book 2–The Heir is its fast-paced sequel with a cliff hanger that will leave you (hopefully) stunned 🙃

Book 3 is written and in the editing stages. I am making headway, though it’s been a little bit of a process. It’ll get there. Everything’s better with time…

My series is for teen/YA readers, ages 12 and up. Adults do enjoy the adventure, too. And readers often enjoy the fight scenes, which I truly enjoy writing ⚔️
