This is another quick summary of only a part of Bo This is another quick summary of only a part of Book 1–The Lost King’s Daughter, a medieval, Celtic-inspired, Christian fairytale fantasy. It is the first book of my debut trilogy, In the Shadow of Emerald Fire! 🔥 Written for 12+. I’ve wanted for a very, very long time to have s I’ve wanted for a very, very long time to have some sort of character art for my books, and now…I do! ✨ What do you think? Does it represent Finockt well? ✨ While I typically prefer to imagine how my character might look without a visual, I enjoyed this so much, I couldn’t pass it up! ✨ What do I like best about her? The sweetness of her face and her youthful innocence. 🌹 I also liked the fact that she exudes a profound wariness. At the same time she appears cautious and uncertain, underneath it all, I feel there’s an intense boldness glimmering in her eyes—something that belies a fiery spirit, one willing to go to any lengths to save those she loves and/or fight for the truth. 🗡️ I also feel like the age range is pretty close to what I would have imagined as well. 16-17. What about you? Does she look this old or younger/older? Overall, did this spoil Finockt’s character for you? Would you prefer never seeing a character’s face? Were you excited to see it? I don’t usually write posts like these, but I fe I don’t usually write posts like these, but I felt led to do so in hopes that it encourages whoever may come across it, and that it may resonate with whoever needs to hear it. First off, I can relate. I know where you are, and I still struggle with “measuring up” to others’ standards and expectations. But I have learned seeking man’s approval only leads to utter disappointment, deeper feelings of inadequacy, a lack of self-worth, vain attempts to succeed, a rollercoaster of emotions, and a feeling of not having any worthwhile purpose in life. As I shared above, my mother helped me see my focus was misplaced. Instead of focusing on my “inadequacies,” she encouraged me to focus on asking the Lord what He wants me to accomplish each day and to focus on striving to please Him, whether at work or home. (I also extended this to my writing). As I also shared, changing my focus, changed my perspective about myself, my worth, and what I bring to the table. Instead of comparing myself to others, I focused on what Christ intended for me to accomplish with each patient I encountered on my caseload, and this helped me see my worth in God’s eyes. It’s amazing how much satisfaction comes from knowing I helped a child, even if it’s in the smallest, most unrecognizable of ways…such as bringing a moment of comfort when they would otherwise face fear—a word or hand hold no one else thought to give. I may not receive accolades from my coworkers for that small gesture, or they may not see the worth in what I do, but my little patient sees it and my Heavenly Father sees it, and I know it pleases Him. In the end, that’s all that matters. So find your worth, your value, your sufficiency, your success, and your purpose in Him, and you will be amazed at how much you end up accomplishing for His glory. On the heels of this also comes the joy of knowing you’ve done His will and done it well. Whatever your profession, I hope this brings encouragement to your heart and renewal of mind and spirit. I couldn’t let any more time pass without saying I couldn’t let any more time pass without saying thank you for your support of both me and my books! You’ve probably heard me say this at least once before, but when I first self published Finockt’s story, I held out hope that maybe one person might be interested in her quest and fall in love with her and all those bound up in her journey. I figured anyone else who may be interested in my books would only be my family. But God has far exceeded my expectations and continues to do so. I’m so incredibly grateful to all those who have been there since the beginning; who discovered Finockt’s story, loved it, and shared it since the day it was first published; who couldn’t wait for Book 2; and who are now eagerly looking forward to reading the end of Finockt’s tale!
